Hello, and welcome back to Chakra Talk where today we'll be talking about the throat chakra and how you can balance and activate your throat chakra so you can communicate positively and feel comfortable and courageous expressing your true self.

Before we get started, I want to remind you that a lot of the activities that I'm sharing in all of these in the series of seven episodes, you can find them in this great free guide that I've created for you, where you can access 108 activities to support you in balancing all of your chakras. You can grab that at the link in the show notes and grab a grownup too if you need help with that.

Let's go ahead and dive in and explore the throat chakra today. The throat chakra is located in the throat center, and it's associated with sound and the color blue. When your throat chakra is balanced, you are able to be truthful and honest. You are also able to listen to others when they speak. You have the courage to share your opinions. You can communicate with others well, and you feel safe to express yourself and how you really feel.

When your throat chakra is out of balance, you might have some struggles with negative self-talk, you might be talking about others in a negative way or engaging in gossip. You might be not telling the truth, you might be feeling uncomfortable sharing how you really feel with others, and you might be having difficulties with communicating with others.

Your throat chakra guides are Vishu and Akash, and they are the Chakra Kids that are here to support you with balancing your throat chakra. They're your guides to helping you express your true self, to communicate positively, to share your opinions, and to stand up for what you believe in.

When you get to know Vishu and Akash as your guides, you have that courage to speak up for how you feel and also to stand up for others, especially for others who might not be able to have that voice and can't speak up for themselves.

You also feel comfortable to express your individuality and your personal style. Whether that's the way that you want to dress or decorate your room, and you know how to share your feelings with others in a way that helps them understand. You also know how to peacefully resolve conflict when it comes up.

You don't have any kind of pressure or need to hold your feelings inside. You're able to fully express them. Vishu’s spirit animal is Riya the Hawk, and her magic tool is a ukulele. When she plays it, it produces sound waves that can create a truth serum and have people tell the truth and restore voice and people who haven't been able to share their voice.

We then have Akash and his spirit animal is Satya the Butterfly. Satya actually means truth in Sanskrit, which all of the characters are named after. All of their names have roots in the Sanskrit language. Akash is the one that's a really great listener and his magic tool is headphones. He can get people to quiet down and listen fully with his headphones.

If you're around him and he put them on you, you would be able to just tune right in and listen well. A lot of times listening isn't as focused on. It's more something like you listen to show that you're obedient, but really when you're listening authentically, you get a chance to understand what other people where they're coming from. You get a chance to learn without your own input.

This happened to me many times. You may be able to relate if you've been waiting to share your opinion and it's been really hard, say, you're raising your hand or something in class, or you have something you want to say. It then can be difficult to actually listen to somebody else when they're speaking. That's what Akash is really great with, and that's what some of these throat chakra balancing tools are really great with too.

When are some good times to use throat chakra tools and to hang out with your throat Chakra Kid friends? When you need courage to share your voice. When you're preparing to perform or speak in front of others. When you're dealing with feeling embarrassed or shy when you want peaceful communication.

Maybe you have an important speech or some kind of communication coming up when you want to connect with your true voice and your individuality and when you want to get your message across clearly.

Now let's talk about some chakra balancing tools that support balancing, enhancing and energizing the throat chakra. As you learned, the throat chakra is related to voice and sound. Anything that you can do to free your voice is going to be supportive of balancing your throat chakra. So singing out loud, karaoke, yelling and screaming in appropriate locations outside. I don't want people listening to this and then your parents are getting mad that you're yelling inside and then saying that you're balancing your throat chakra, but it is important to release stuck energy.

If you ever felt nervous to say how you feel, you might have felt like your throat kind of closed up almost. And so by practicing the singing and freeing your voice, you can release some of that energy. Also listening to your favorite music. Sometimes music that has lyrics can be really powerful because that can support you in connecting to something, maybe helping you develop courage, helping you express yourself.

You can also listen to music without words and that are more focused on sound healing, like with crystal bowls or something like that. Because then you have a chance to really calm your mind and tune in to balance your throat chakra that way, learning to play an instrument is another way to balance and enhance your throat chakra.

Writing down your favorite quotes if you have any. Throat chakra is also about self expression and a message that you want to share with the world and how you want to help and who you want to stand up for and the kinds of causes that you care about.

By writing down quotes or little messages that you've heard and symbols and signs that you've seen that inspire you, that can also help you to develop your own personal voice and how you want to share your message with the world.

A challenge when I work with kids and in my Camp Chakra Kids program that I like to share is to practice having a whole day without interrupting anybody and listening fully without interrupting. I've tried it myself and it can be quite challenging. You can also really learn a lot about yourself and learn a lot about other people and the world around you and see kind of how things shift when you really focus and pay attention to listening.

Along with that idea of self expression and what message you want to share, what's important to you to share, you can also do it as an art activity and a creative activity. You can make a sign for your room that shares some kind of message or affirmation or quote, or something that when you look at it, it inspires you. It helps you feel good and something that you would also if other people see it, then they might feel the same way.

Part of the throat chakra, part of communication that can be challenging is sharing your feelings with somebody else, especially if you have an opinion that's different from theirs or you want to share something that you don't feel totally comfortable about.

A way to practice doing that, I like to start with suggesting that you practice sharing your feelings with somebody that you really trust. It can be something that's not a scary feeling, so kind of like you're building up to being able to share your feelings with somebody, maybe somebody you don't know as well or in a public space or to a teacher or something.

Then if you start practicing with people that you do trust and that you can kind of get feedback and you can kind of just not have that fear or those nerves that can come up, then that's a way that can support you in building your voice overall, too.

I'll end with a little challenge activity. I liked that I did that on the heart chakra episode, so I hope that you enjoyed that too and that has inspired you to kind of take action right away. It might take a little thought, a little bit of brainstorming, but I'm going to challenge you to create a personal motto for yourself.

What is that? What is a personal motto? I did not remind myself when I initially started chairing this activity, I did look up what the definition of motto is. I don't remember exactly, but it's kind of a saying or a phrase that speaks to kind of who you are and the way that you see the world.

I am going to make up one right now. My personal mottos change and I've had different ones. So my personal motto would be, follow your joy. Because that's something that's really important to me, and it's something that I want to remember for myself, and then I want to inspire others to do too. That would be my personal motto.

Some examples of other mottoes are, don't worry, be happy. Life is beautiful. I'm not going to keep trying to come up with other mottoes because the creativity is not coming to me, but I hope you get the idea and that it sparked you to take a little action right away and do something to balance and energize your throat chakra.

I will see you here next week when we'll be talking about the third eye chakra. We're getting into your intuition and listening to your inner voice. I will see you here next week. Until then, dream big, magical one.
