    00:50

Today I am excited to talk to you about essential oils and how you can use them for emotional balance and wellness. I paired this episode specifically with last week's episode on crystals because I think it's another example of a gift from nature and that we can find magic in our plants and our flowers and use it to help heal ourselves.

There are also some really great benefits, and it's also really fun to pair essential oils with crystals. I'll be talking a bit about that today as well. I'm going to be sharing with you some ways that you can use essential oils for emotional balance, some ways to use the oils and also how you can access them.

Essential oils have so many great properties and ways that they can help you. You can use them to support helping physical illnesses or injuries like cuts. You can use them for cleaning, but I'm going to focus mostly today on how you can use them for emotional balance. That's what I really started gravitating towards using them for. That's what I love them for, and that's what I love helping other people use them for.

    2:12

The way I started using essential oils and becoming interested in them is that I am a therapist, that's something that I do. I help others with their emotional challenges. That's something I've also been interested in for myself and building my own emotional wellness. I’m always looking for tools to do that.

With essential oils, I found it to be so exciting, empowering, and fun. There were so many different kinds of oils and that they could help with all different kinds of things. For example, you can use lavender to support relaxation to help you sleep. That's something that I love diffusing in my room and for my daughter to help with sleep.

You can also use it in a bath to help feel calm and relaxed. Peppermint oil is great to support focus, and I also like to use that in the bath too for sore muscles. It's good if you get carsick to bring in the car. Citrus oils like wild orange, lemon or grapefruit are great for supporting confidence and bringing cheer.

Oil like frankincense or something woodsy like a cedar wood can be great for grounding and protection. Some of my favorite oils are jasmine oil that comes from this beautiful flower and it's a sweet smell. I love to wear that actually from a roller, and vanilla. I love to mix into blends, which I'll talk to you about in a bit. I think that that brings a sweet and comforting nostalgic kind of smell.

What I think is most important about when you're choosing your oils is that it matters most what resonates with you and how that particular oil helps you feel. For example, the way that it might resonate with you or the way it might help you feel might be different than what is commonly suggested meaning is.

For example, I know that there are people who experience how lavender doesn't actually calm them down and it actually excites them, whereas it's the wild orange that is what is relaxing. I'll probably say every tool that I share with you on this podcast is that you use your intuition to guide you to what's going to help you the most.

I mentioned blends. That is where I actually became the most excited about essential oils is the opportunities for being creative and having different ways to support you from blending different oils together, and how the different blends can support you in different ways and how you can use your own creativity to combine and create your own blends to support you for your unique purposes.

For example, one that I like to share, because it kind of gives a balance of different kinds of oils. Say if you wanted to create a confident speaker spray, and a spray is just when you put some drops of essential oils in a spray bottle with water. That's how you create a spray.

I'll talk to you in a little bit about dilution and how important that is, but to create, say, a confident speaker spray where you want to spray the spray around you before you're gonna go and perform or give a speech.

When you do this, you want to be calm, but you wouldn't want to be so calm that you're falling asleep, you'll also want to be courageous so you can share your best self. You also want to be focused so you can remember what you're saying.

In that case, you could combine lavender with peppermint and lime, say. That could be your magical potion and blend for supporting you and speaking confidently in public. Before I share more about how you can use essential oils, I want to make sure to share that it's important that you learn about the oils themselves and the amount that you need to dilute them so they are safe for your skin.

There's lots of free information out there and dilution charts so it can help you know what's the safe and appropriate amount. Again, in this episode, I've partnered with Whimsy and Wellness. I shared about them in the crystals episode.

The way I actually found them is through essential oils. They share a lot of great free information like how much to dilute the oils and different things about different kinds of oils and when you might want to use them or not use them depending on your skin sensitivity, or where and how you're going to be using them.

That is really important. I forgot to mention it last time, but what's really cool is that they have offered a 10% off coupon for the Chakra Talk listeners. You can find that in the show notes as well. Because something else fun that they share are a lot of fun recipes.

There are books out there, there are articles and they have a bunch of fun recipes. You can start to get a sense of what you really like and start to create your own combinations. Some of my favorite ones that I like to create are, I like to make them as birthday gifts.

I have explained to you how you create a spray. There's lots of fun bottles too. I have some blue glass bottles that I would use for these. You can also get fun and creative with labels, there's just so much added creativity and magic that you can incorporate to make the oils even more powerful and have it be even more of a fun tool for emotional balance.

What I would do for these birthday sprays is I would have the blue glass bottle. I would make special labels that said the person's name on them on a sticker, just DIY, and I sometimes even use paint markers. I then put a mix of a bunch of different citrus oils inside for cheer and celebration for the birthday.

I then add something sweet like ylang-ylang and vanilla. I like vanilla because it reminds me of a birthday cake or something of that nature. You can also use blends and create blends and make them into rollers using a roller bottle.

For those who would use a carrier oil, some kind of oil so instead of water that you're doing in the spray bottle, I like to use coconut oil. There's other kinds of oils that you can use and then you add the appropriate amount of drops of essential oils into that.

One that I love that I made with my daughter was for her first day of preschool and we've since made different versions of this. But for preschool, we did some of the citrus for cheer. We did a tiny little bit of peppermint, I believe. No, actually that's not true. She didn't like mints at the time, but that would be a good thing.

So for this oil, we did some citrus, some orange and a little bit of rose, and some vanilla. Because her favorite color was and still is pink, we used that for the cap and we also used that for the color of the crystal chips that went inside the roller. I'll talk to you about that in just a minute about how you can combine the two together because that makes it even more fun. That was her bravery roller. That's what we called it.

I wanted to just finish sharing with you some different ways that you can use the oils. I talked to you about a spray and that you can also make them into rollers. Something else that I love to do that I think is one way to make it especially safe to use because you're not putting oil directly onto your skin is to diffuse the oils.

As I have mentioned, I like to diffuse lavender in the bedroom or somewhere you want to feel relaxed. I like using more citrus, like a grapefruit oil or maybe a blend that has different citrus oils in the kitchen to brighten things up.

Crystals and oils, how can you use those together? The way I like to use crystals and oils together is to use the crystal chips and you can put the crystal chips into the spray bottles or into the rollers and combine the properties of the benefits that you get from the crystals and the benefits get from the oils and make your own magical and supportive potions with that way.

Here are some of my favorites to share about the examples that I already gave. In my daughter's bravery roller, she was going largely for the color, but I think that the meaning of it also for emotional balance is really beautiful too, is she chose strawberry quartz.

It's a nice pink color and it promotes a feeling of innocence and play. I think it's actually a great choice to go into a bravery roller especially for one's first day in preschool, or really anytime you're starting something new.

In the birthday sprays, I would put a mixture of all different color chips, so all different types of crystal chips mix together to make a rainbow color. Sometimes you can get mixes of tourmaline that are all different colors mixed together, and that's really pretty.

I like to pair citrus oils with the citrine crystals and pair oils for protection and grounding like the frankincense or a cedar wood or sandalwood with obsidian or a black tourmaline chips. If I were making a roller or spray that was for sleep, lavender and maybe sage essential oils, and then putting some amethyst crystals in there, that would be a really fun, pretty and beneficial combo for sleeping and good dreams.

The same with selecting the crystals for themselves on let go with the essential oils, I would always say use your intuition. There are also some fun recipes out there. Whimsy and Wellness, too, they have a cool product actually where it's like a card deck that they'll give you recipes that include not only the essential oils, but also crystals that you might use.

Where can you find essential oils that you might want to use for your emotional balance? I think it's really important to share that wherever you do source your oils from, you make sure that the company that creates them does so and sources them and creates them in an ethical way.

There are companies out there that you can buy essential oils on their website and they'll share with you the ways that they extract the oils, the ways that they treat the people and the land that that the oils are indigenous to.

You can also find oils at a health food store, or often a metaphysical store in your community. I've never done this myself, but I had a student that did. You actually can learn to create your own essential oils. She did lavender oil by learning how to extract the oil from the plant itself. If you're into science and you're into creative projects like that, that's another way that you can potentially source your oil.

I always want to empower you with all different kinds of ways that you can access the magic of all of these tools so that no matter where you are, what you have access to and if you don't have a lot of money to spend, you can always find ways to connect with the magic of all these different tools that I'm sharing with you.

I want to empower you and inspire you to believe that you can do that. I will see you here next week for the next episode of Chakra Talk. I am so excited that I'm going to be starting to talk to you about the individual chakras and introducing you to the Chakra Kids so I can't wait to share that all with you and for you to listen and to support you in igniting your inner magic. I will see you next week.
